Citizens Serving Communities
Civil Air Patrol is the longtime auxiliary of the United States Air Force. Squadron 80, based out of San Jose's Reid-Hillview Airport, does its part to bring excellence to CAP's three missions:
CAP performs about 90% of the Air Force inland search and rescue missions in the continental US.
CAP Aerospace/STEM Education Programs bring over 40 free fun and engaging products and programs to our members and to classrooms throughout the nation.
Squadron 80 works closely with its sister squadron, John J. Montgomery Cadet Squadron 36, to raise the next generation of dynamic Americans and aerospace leaders.
Civil Air Patrol (CAP) was established on 1 December 1941, six days before the events of Pearl Harbor. San Jose has had a squadron at Reid-Hillview Airport for the vast majority of that time, helping protect the coast and help those in need. In the 75 years since its founding, CAP continues to uphold its missions to serve our local communities and the nation.
Goings-on in the worlds of our squadron, CAP, and aerospace in general.
