Last night, 1st Lt Richard West received an Achievement Award recognizing his tireless work as an Air Operations Branch Directory Trainee at our recent search and rescue exercise at the end of April. Originally scheduled a month earlier, Lt West postponed the exercise due to poor weather, and aircraft maintenance requirements threatened to postpone the exercise a second time. Thankfully, Lt West was able to work with the maintenance officers from several groups to get a minimum number of aircraft while also overcoming challenges with aircrew assignments. Lt. West was able to successfully coordinate modified flight plans to ensure that every trainee was able to fly despite the limited number of aircraft available for the exercise. After overcoming many challenges, the Mission Scanner School was a success and California Wing now has 15 new Mission Scanners. Thank you 1st Lt Richard West, this award is well deserved.

1st Lt Richard West is handed an Achievement Award from Capt David Hartman for his work as Air Operations Branch Directory Trainee at a recent search and rescue exercise in April 2019.
